The Audience
The intended audiences for this class are Controls Technicians, Controls Service Technicians, Application Engineers, and Controls Programmers.

Pre-requisites

Each student should have a 2 year HVAC certification or equivalent field experience. Students are also required to be Niagara AX or Niagara 4 certified. Class Overview and Learning Objectives

The objective of this 4-day class is to provide instruction on the installation, integration, and operation of KMC Conquest hardware using KMC Connect Lite, KMC Connect, and KMC Converge/GFX software.

• KMC Connect Lite provides fast in office or in field configuration of KMC Conquest hardware using Near Field Communication (NFC) to write information and communication settings to an unpowered, still in the box, KMC Conquest controller.
• KMC Connect provides configuration and operator workstation options for Building Automation Systems using KMC Conquest hardware (and earlier KMC controllers) in a BACnet environment.
• KMC Converge adds functionality to Niagara for setting up and servicing BACnet controllers from KMC Controls. KMC Converge adds the following features to the Niagara Workbench:
  • The KMC BACnet Module for directly configuring KMC BACnet controllers o Application selection, deployment, and auditing
  • Converge GFX for quickly setting up web and mobile accessibility.

  • Describe and discuss the capabilities of KMC's Conquest hardware.
  • Describe and discuss the capabilities of the KMC Connect Lite app and KMC Connect software.
  • Create an MS/TP network with Conquest hardware and a BAC-5051E router.
  • Install and deploy KMC Connect software on a PC and discover the MS/TP Network.
  • Correctly describe the BACnet protocol, its application, and then configure and install a BACnet system.
  • Use KMC Connect tools and menus to describe and demonstrate configuration of KMC Conquest, standard BACnet, and 3rd party hardware.
  • Use KMC Connect Control Basic editor to accurately read, edit, and create programs using Control Basic language.
  • Complete assignments during class to demonstrate practical application.
  • Describe and discuss the capabilities of KMC's Converge software.
  • Install and deploy KMC Converge software on a PC and discover the MS/TP Network.
  • Use KMC Converge tools and menus to describe and demonstrate configuration of KMC Conquest hardware.
  • Use KMC Converge Control Basic editor to accurately read, edit, and create programs using Control Basic language.
  • Correctly identify, describe, and discuss the three primary components of Converge: KMC BACnet module, Converge service, and Converge GFX service.

Student Materials
KMC Controls provides all class materials, including laptops. Listed below are the requirements each students personal/company laptop should have to run the software:

Student laptop requirements
The student MUST have administration rights to the laptop to install software and make changes to the PCs network connections.

• Niagara Workbench (with Host ID) installed and licensed to the student.
• Windows 8 or 8.1 Professional, Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate, or Windows 10 Professional
• Intel Core 2 Duo Processor or equivalent speed of 2 GHz or faster. 2 GB of RAM DirectX 9 graphics processor 160 GB hard drive with 5 GB available Display capable of 1024 x 768 resolution or higher
• Network (Ethernet 100BaseT) port or adapter. One free USB port
• Internet Explorer 7.0 or later
• Adobe Flash 10 and Silverlight 3.0 or later

Certification
Upon successful completion of the class, students will receive a certificate of recognition as being KMC Connect and KMC Converge/GFX certified.
